I am not so experienced with streetfishing, but from my feeling and preference I would go for something like the following:
A lighter (up to 15-20g) rod about 2m or slightly longer in length), fast action. For moving around between different waters in a city I think a travel style rod (4-6 sections) would be convenient.
As far as reels go, a comparable size to Shimano's 2500 reels would be my recommendation. When I bought my new set I tried many 1000 and 2500 size reels with my rod (Fox Rage Spinning Super Finesse 3-21g, 1.98m for reference) and the balance were much better with the bigger size.
Braided line 0.08-0.12mm, eventually a thin fluorocarbon leader and some soft plastics with either jigheads or dropshot rig seems to be the thing now.
Dropshotting I will try out soon myself.
I am sure someone with more experience can give more accurate advice, but these are my 2 cents.
